Responsibilities

- Deliver engaging lessons on historical events, social sciences, and related topics to middle and high school students, fostering curiosity and active participation.
- Utilize classroom management techniques to create a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports behavioral expectations and student engagement.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing timely feedback and tailored instructional adjustments.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integration of learning technology tools such as digital platforms and multimedia resources.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student performance, behavior, and academic goals to ensure a supportive partnership.
- Mentor students in academic advising sessions, encouraging critical thinking, research skills, and literacy development across social sciences and history disciplines.
Requirements
- Proven experience teaching middle or high school students in social sciences or related fields, with a focus on history or English language arts preferred.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, AP (Advanced Placement) programs, standardized testing preparation, and educational compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles and developmental needs.
- Proficiency in educational technology integration, including implementing IT-enhanced lessons and utilizing library services for research projects.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with effective organizational abilities for lesson planning and instructional design.
- Experience working within private school settings or similar educational environments is advantageous.
- Familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style or AP style guides for copy editing and proofreading tasks related to student work or curricular materials.
- Ability to mentor colleagues through teacher collaboration initiatives while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies, literacy education techniques, and higher education teaching practices is desirable.
