In-Person Health Service Clerk – Spanish Bilingual Preferred

We are seeking a Spanish bilingual Health Service Clerk for this in-person role, as we work directly with our patients in a collaborative and community-focused environment.
Bluegrass Community Health Center, a patient-centered medical home that has served Kentucky families since 2001, provides comprehensive primary care for adults and children.
The Health Service Clerk:
Provides excellent customer service to patients according to Patient-Centered Medical Home principles and others who interact with the health center.
Schedules patient appointments according to established rules.
Accurately obtains and enters patient information at the time of appointment into the Patient Management System (PMS).
Checks insurance eligibility and understands insurance processing.
Answers/transfers calls promptly in a professional and courteous manner.
Maintains confidentiality of patient personal, financial, and health records.
Cleans waiting room and bathroom facilities as needed.
Interacts with patients in a respectful and culturally competent manner, with Spanish fluency preferred.
Will attend Outreach Events or Health Fairs as scheduled by the Supervisor.
Assesses patient flow from the waiting room to the clinic, ensuring efficient communication regarding extended wait times.
Collects co-pays, sliding fee discount payments, and past due balances.
Performs other assigned duties as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Spanish bilingual preferred.
High school diploma or GED required (Associate's Degree preferred).
At least one year of healthcare experience preferred.
Excellent organizational, customer service, and time management skills.
Self-directed, multi-task oriented, with a focus on quality, attention to detail, and productivity.
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, in-person healthcare environment.

Provide backup support and assistance to other employees when needed.
Cross-train with other staff members to enhance overall team skills and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with contracts, laws, regulations, and BCHC policies.
