Job Overview
Bluegrass Advanced Mental Health is building a modern outpatient psychiatry practice centered on clinical excellence, ethical care, innovation, and strong patient outcomes. Under the clinical direction of Dr. David Roth, we specialize in interventional treatments—including TMS and Spravato—for patients with complex and treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions.
We are hiring a Spravato Treatment Technician to support the safe, compassionate delivery of Spravato (esketamine) treatment. Working alongside the receptionist and under the direct supervision of the administering provider, you will help patients move through their treatment day—from check-in through the post-administration monitoring window—while keeping the treatment environment calm, clean, and compliant. This is a patient-facing role where attention to detail and a steady, reassuring presence matter as much as technical skill.
Previous medical experience is helpful but not required. We provide training, including the preparation needed to support Spravato administration under our REMS-certified providers.
Responsibilities
- Patient Check-In & Readiness
- Assist the receptionist with checking in Spravato patients and preparing them for their session.
Treatment Environment
- Ensure the Spravato treatment room and chair are clean, tidy, and sanitized before each patient begins treatment.
- Maintain a quiet, comfortable, and supportive environment throughout the session.
Monitoring & Patient Support
- Support provider-supervised monitoring of the patient throughout the two-hour administration and observation window, consistent with Spravato REMS requirements.
- Measure and record vital signs, whether manually or using an in-clinic remote monitoring device such as VitalStream.
- Promptly alert the administering provider when a patient’s vital signs fall outside the acceptable range or when the patient shows any sign of distress.
- Assist with the administration of antiemetic or anti-anxiety medication as directed by the provider and within the scope permitted for this role.
- Help patients who need to use the restroom during their session leave and return safely to their assigned treatment chair.
Documentation & Continuity of Care
- Document vital signs and the patient’s experience accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Confirm that each patient has an active medication order with adequate refills in place for their next Spravato session, and flag gaps to the provider or scheduling team.
- Confirm that each patient’s medication has been delivered and is on hand in time for the scheduled appointment.
- Observe patients for signs of impairment or recent use of mind-altering substances and report any concerns to the administering provider, who makes the clinical determination on whether treatment proceeds.
- Confirm that the patient has arranged transportation to and from the clinic and will not be driving themselves home after treatment.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, laboratory work, or a healthcare setting is highly preferred
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency
- Experience with materials handling, packaging, or machining is advantageous
- Ability to operate forklifts or similar warehouse equipment safely (certification preferred)
- Familiarity with CGMP standards and laboratory safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Prior warehouse experience is beneficial but not mandatory; a proactive attitude is essential
Qualifications
- A calm, reassuring, patient-centered presence, especially with individuals managing complex or treatment-resistant conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and reliability—this role involves safety-sensitive monitoring and accurate documentation.
- Comfort learning and following clinical protocols, vital-sign measurement, and EMR documentation.
- Clear, professional communication with patients, providers, and colleagues.
- Discretion and a commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Healthcare or clinical experience is preferred but not required; willingness to complete Spravato and REMS-related training is essential.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
A Note About Our Environment
Our patients are managing serious and treatment-resistant psychiatric conditions. During Spravato sessions, patients may experience sedation, dissociation, or emotional responses as part of treatment. This is a clinical setting where compassion, composure, and respect for each patient’s experience are essential. We want every team member to understand this environment clearly and to feel confident supporting our patients within it.
