Job Overview
Kappes, Cassiday & Associates is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Welder Helper with some experience in MIG welding to support our welding and warehouse operations. This position is ideal for someone looking to grow their skills in a hands-on environment while assisting experienced welders and performing general labor tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
· Assist welders with MIG welding tasks including setup, fit-up, and tack welding.
· Prepare materials and work areas for welding operations.
· Perform grinding, cutting, and basic fabrication under supervision.
· Support warehouse functions such as shipping, receiving, labeling, and organizing materials.
· Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse and lay-down yard.
· Assist with general labor tasks such as lifting, carrying, painting, and light equipment operation.
· Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Field work and travel may be required.
· Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
· Basic MIG welding experience (training or hands-on work preferred).
· Ability to tack weld and assist with weld preparation tasks.
· Must be able to pass a MIG welding test; candidate must bring their own welding hood for the test.
· Comfortable using hand tools, grinders, and basic power tools.
· Ability to do basic math and take accurate measurements using standard tools (tape measures, squares, etc.).
· Physically able to lift 55 lbs. repeatedly and work in a physically active environment.
· Willing to take direction and work both independently and as part of a team.
· Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
· Candidate must provide their own welding PPE (including hood), steel toe boots, and hand tools. Only basic PPE such as safety glasses and gloves will be provided.
Pay Range: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
