Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ respiratory status through detailed evaluations of vital signs, oxygenation levels, and pulmonary function tests.
- Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen delivery, aerosol treatments, and medication administration with precision and care.
- Operate and troubleshoot a wide range of respiratory devices such as ventilators, CPAP/BiPAP machines, and other critical care equipment.
- Manage ventilator settings for patients in ICU, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and emergency situations with expertise in airway management.
- Respond swiftly to cardiac arrest emergencies and participate in resuscitation procedures following neonatal resuscitation protocols when necessary.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining compliance with hospital policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and specialists to develop individualized care plans for complex cases involving pulmonology or critical & intensive care.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Respiratory Therapist in accordance with state or national regulatory bodies.
- Proven experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU, neonatal units, or trauma centers—preferably Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and respiratory device operation.
- Hands-on experience with ventilator management and airway procedures across diverse patient populations including neonates and geriatrics.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient assessments accurately and respond effectively during acute care situations such as cardiac arrests or respiratory emergencies.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient record management.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings.
