Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
- Support medication administration under the supervision of nursing staff, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families, fostering a caring environment that respects individual needs and preferences
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer patients while maintaining proper manual handling techniques and infection control protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement personalized care plans that address physical, emotional, and spiritual needs
- Maintain detailed medical documentation in compliance with healthcare standards and ensure all patient records are accurate, complete, and securely stored
Experience
Candidates should have prior experience working in hospice or palliative care settings with a strong understanding of end-of-life issues. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia is highly valued. A background in medical-surgical nursing or hospital medicine—particularly ICU or trauma center experience—is advantageous. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner is preferred. Certification in basic life support (BLS) or CPR is required. Candidates must demonstrate excellent caregiver communication skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and proficiency in patient transfer methods. Prior experience with medication administration, aseptic technique, phlebotomy, or specialized care such as Alzheimer's or memory care enhances your suitability for this role. A compassionate attitude combined with critical thinking skills ensures the delivery of safe, respectful patient service across diverse healthcare environments including long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, or home care settings.
Pay: Up to $30.23 per hour
