Deburr Technician / Precision Finishing Technician - Day Shift
ABOUT QUALIFIED PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT (QPD)
Headquartered in Hillsboro, OR, QPD provides custom machining services and assembly with cleanroom capabilities to the semi-conductor, life sciences and other precision industries. POSITION SNAPSHOT
Join a precision machining team! We manufacture precision parts for advanced technology applications. In this job, you'll use hand tools, microscopes, files, abrasives and precision measuring tools to remove small imperfections from machined metal parts.
The work requires patience, strong fine motor skills, attention to detail and the ability to work quickly and efficiently. Our ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship and can balance attention to detail with productivity requirements.
Schedule:
- Day Shift (Monday - Thursday, 10 hour days)
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Deburr parts before polishing.
- Read blueprints to determine areas that need to be hand deburred/finished.
- Use tools such as files, sandpaper and exacto knives to remove sharp edges and burrs.
- Some parts may require using a microscope to see and inspect work.
- Perform occasional bead blasting to remove sharp edges and polish parts.
- Polish specific finishes on parts using tools such as a polishing lathe, sandpaper, etc.
- Use measuring tools to measure surface finishes.
- Clean and dry parts using ultrasonic cleaning equipment.
- Handle and protect parts from damage.
- Meet or exceed production efficiency and time requirements.
- Follow all safety requirements.
- Maintain clean work areas.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated strong fine skills applied in a work environment or through related hobbies such as artwork, model making or similar activities. Previous deburring work experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- 2 or more years of work experience demonstrating: reliability, ability to follow processes, working effectively with others and consistently completing assigned work on time. Manufacturing experience is a preferred.
- Experience using basic hand tools for precision outcomes.
- Ability to frequently lift, handle and manipulate up to 5 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to learn to read and accurately interpret blueprints. Previous experience is preferred.
- Basic math skills including adding, subtracting and counting whole numbers.
- Basic computer literacy including navigating software, and looking up and entering data accurately.
- Ability to produce quality work while meeting production requirements, efficiency requirements and deadlines.
- Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate professionally, accept feedback and maintain positive working relationships.
- Ability to read and understand English-language work instructions, blueprints, and quality documentation, and to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors as required to safely and accurately perform job duties.
- Ability to occasionally work overtime as needed
- This position involves access to export controlled information. Employees must be eligible to work in roles subject to U.S. export control regulations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
A temperature-controlled production shop floor environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time; frequent lifting and manipulating objects up to 5, occasionally up to 20 lbs., occasionally walking, twisting and bending at the knees. Exposure to dust. Personal protective equipment (safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, shields etc.) may be required. General shop environment with exposure to moderate levels of noise in a well-lit, well-ventilated, and fast paced setting. Workload may be unpredictable, and pressure increased during peak times. Critical deadlines require considerable flexibility and adaptability. Disturbances of workflow and/or irregularities in work schedule may occur on an intermittent basis. Extra hours may be required, generally on weekdays.
