Job Purpose:
The Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Teacher position is responsible for coaching, motivating, and instructing students with disabilities in accordance with the school’s model, with attention to each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). The ESE Teacher will collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure that each student’s needs outlined in their IEP are being met and the student is progressing towards course completions and ultimately, graduation. All lessons are aligned with state standards and taught by the student’s teacher, with the ESE Teacher serving in a supportive role. If an IEP dictates direct instruction from an ESE teacher, that level of service will be provided. The ESE Teacher will work directly with the School’s Administrators to ensure that all ESE paperwork, services, testing waivers, and reporting requirements comply with cohort expectations and federal, state, and local school district regulations.
Responsibilities:
Ø Provides a learning environment that is team-oriented, student-centered, and aligned with the school’s academic goals and culture.
Ø Creates or updates Individual Education Plans (IEP) for each of his/her students and uses this as the basis to track each student’s academic performance.
Ø Acts as a mentor, facilitator, advocate, and coach to support, mentor, and guide students through their IEP goals and graduation requirements using technology, curriculum, and other resources available.
Ø Provides positive support for all students with disabilities within the school, overseeing and monitoring individual student progress and the use of resources and equipment.
Ø Uses only forms or reporting records approved and /or adopted by the school, district, or state.
Ø Maintains progress monitoring reports, IEP compliance records, attendance and behavioral records, academic grades, and other student records as required by state regulatory guidelines, school policies, and procedures.
Ø Collaborates with peers to develop, plan, and implement best educational practices based on the students' individual academic needs and aligned with the school's goals.
Ø Performs all other instructional and academic duties as deemed necessary, aligned with the school’s policies and procedures to ensure educational goals are achieved.
Ø Maintains all ESE Records and works collaboratively with school staff to ensure all records are in compliance.
Ø Ensures students’ accommodations are in place for testing and coursework.
Ø Communicates regularly with parents and guardians when any noticeable changes occur.
Ø Participates in School Committees as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications:
Ø Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, K-12, or similar degree.
Ø Starting Salary Range from $58,000 to $80,000 for years of teaching experience
Ø Appropriate Certifications and endorsements.

Ø Teaching experience preferred.
