EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position supports highway and bridge maintenance through skilled equipment operation and a variety of field tasks. You will help maintain safe work practices, complete inspections, and carry out daily maintenance responsibilities. As a PennDOT CDL Operator A, you will perform the following duties:
Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other assigned construction and maintenance equipment-
CDL Compliance: Maintain required CDL credentials and complete all daily pre and post operation inspections

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs, activity records, and documentation related to daily operations and equipment use

Traffic Control: Perform flagging duties to support safe movement of traffic during maintenance activities

Manual Labor: Use hand tools to complete tasks such as cutting brush, repairing guiderails, cleaning culverts, and erecting signs

Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor repairs, complete preventative maintenance, and demonstrate equipment procedures to coworkers

Safety Awareness: Follow safety procedures, report hazards, and remain alert to risks in the work environment

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Overtime, dual-shifts, and holiday shifts may be required during storm operations, emergencies, and/or specialized maintenance operations.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $44,988.00 (before taxes).
