Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Experienced Jamaican Cook to bring authentic Caribbean flavors to our vibrant culinary team. Duties
- Prepare and cook authentic Jamaican dishes, including jerk chicken, curried goat, ackee and saltfish, and other traditional favorites.
- Follow established recipes meticulously while also demonstrating culinary creativity to enhance flavor profiles.
- Manage food preparation processes efficiently for high-volume production, ensuring timely service during peak hours.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including grills, braising pots, poaching devices, and food processors.
- Maintain strict food safety standards by adhering to sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and hygiene regulations.
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes inspired by Jamaican cuisine or customer preferences.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and uphold quality control throughout food production.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Jamaican cook or in a similar culinary role specializing in Caribbean cuisine.
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques such as braising, grilling, poaching, and seasoning authentic dishes.
- Demonstrated ability to work in high-volume kitchens within the food industry or restaurant environment.
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely.
- Prior experience in fine dining or catering settings is highly desirable for delivering exceptional presentation and flavor.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and sanitation procedures essential for maintaining a clean kitchen environment.
- Experience with menu planning, recipe adherence, and food production processes that meet high standards of quality.
