Overview
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and attentive Overnight Caregivers to provide care, supervision, and support to individuals during overnight hours. As an Overnight Caregiver, you will play an important role in ensuring our clients remain safe, comfortable, and properly cared for throughout the night.
This position is ideal for individuals who are reliable, patient, and comfortable providing assistance during nighttime and early-morning hours.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide direct care, supervision, and support to clients throughout the overnight shift.
- Monitor clients throughout the night and respond promptly to their needs.
- Assist with nighttime and morning personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene as needed.
- Assist clients with toileting, incontinence care, repositioning, transfers, and mobility.
- Support clients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Monitor vital signs when required and promptly report any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Assist with bedtime and morning routines according to the client's individualized care plan.
- Prepare light meals, snacks, or breakfast and provide feeding assistance when necessary.
- Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment.
- Provide companionship, reassurance, and emotional support to clients who may wake during the night.
- Monitor the client's environment for safety concerns and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Implement behavior management and redirection strategies when required by the client's care plan.
- Complete required documentation and accurately report relevant events or changes that occurred during the overnight shift.
- Communicate important information to incoming caregivers, supervisors, healthcare professionals, and family members as appropriate.
- Maintain client confidentiality, privacy, dignity, and rights at all times.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in senior care, home care, assisted living, nursing homes, or a related caregiving field is preferred.
- Comfortable working independently during overnight hours.
- Ability to remain alert, attentive, and responsive throughout the scheduled shift.
- Knowledge of basic vital sign monitoring and medical terminology is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and manage time effectively.
- Dependable and able to respond calmly and appropriately to unexpected situations.
- Compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others maintain their independence and quality of life.
Qualifications
ALL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must complete all required caregiver/DCW training applicable to the position.
- Must successfully complete required competency examinations.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must provide documentation of negative tuberculosis (TB) screening/testing as required.
- Must be dependable and able to consistently work scheduled overnight shifts.
