Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Take dental X-rays, including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to strict safety protocols and HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix , ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes. Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning oral fluids, and maintaining a sterile environment with proper aseptic techniques. Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient assessments. Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, confirming patient information, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental terminology and anatomy knowledge is essential. Proficiency in dental software systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar EMR platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety at all times. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and data privacy; ability to handle medical coding accurately. Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively; certification in radiography is required or preferred. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain procedures clearly to pediatric patients and their families.
