Overview - Scope of Position

As a full-time staff member at Perfect Fit Day Program, you will be at the heart of our dynamic and engaging environment. Your role will involve leading purposeful activities that support program participants in every aspect of their daily lives. Whether it's creating art, singing, dancing, or teaching new life skills, you'll play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with special needs.
Key Responsibilities & Duties of Position
1. Person-Centered Support: Provide individualized support to program participants based on their unique needs, preferences, and goals. Foster a person-centered approach that emphasizes choice, autonomy, and self-determination.
2. Community Inclusion: Facilitate community-based activities and outings that promote socialization, skill development, and meaningful engagement. Encourage participants to participate in a variety of community events, recreational activities, and cultural experiences.
3. Daily Living Assistance: Assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, toileting, and meal preparation. Provide hands-on support as needed to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants.
4. Behavioral Support: Implement behavior management techniques and strategies to promote positive behavior and reduce challenging behaviors. Use positive reinforcement, redirection, and de-escalation techniques to support participants in managing emotions and behaviors.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of participant progress, behavior incidents, and program activities. Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
6. Individual Support Plans: Implement individual support plans (ISP) developed in collaboration with program participants, their families, and other support professionals. Follow ISP goals and objectives to support participants in achieving desired outcomes.
7. Communication: Communicate effectively and respectfully with program participants, their families, caregivers, and other team members. Provide regular updates, feedback, and information to ensure continuity of care and support.
8. Safety and Crisis Response: Monitor participant safety and well-being at all times, identifying and addressing potential risks or hazards. Follow established protocols and procedures in the event of emergencies, crises, or behavioral incidents.

This role will be required to work at various on-site locations. On-site work involves the staff’s presence at local establishments and event venues with indoor and outdoor settings, inclement weather may be a factor. Travel to job sites may be required. Operations are predominantly based in San Diego County. “On-site” can also be defined to include work in an office setting, both single and/or multi-floor properties with stairs; elevator/escalator access may or may not be available.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and move about freely at a job site, in a multi-floor building, and during extended work sessions.
Staff members are frequently required to visually observe the condition of their surroundings.
This individual may be routinely required to bend, stoop, stand, walk, carry and lift objects weighing 60 pounds or less. Direct Support Staff may be required to “team lift” objects up to 119 pounds with two or more people participating.
Staff members are expected to possess a reliable vehicle for traveling to and from work/project sites with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, as well as possess a smartphone for use during work hours. Direct Support Staff may also be required to have a working, reliable laptop to complete the necessary functions of the role.
Minimum Qualifications
A high school diploma/GED (preferred)
Related experience in caregiving or working with adults (training provided)
Clear criminal background check and driving history
Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, smartphone mobile device, and internet access
CPR & First Aid certifications (required post-hiring)

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
