JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Scale House Operator.
Reporting to: Scale House Manager.
Mission of the position:
The Scale House Operator is responsible for overseeing the material and vehicle weighing process to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. This role supports daily site operations by managing scale transactions, verifying loads, maintaining documentation, and coordinating communication between drivers, operators, and site leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Weigh inbound and outbound vehicles using computerized scale systems, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation.
- Track employee hours at the location and send the hours to the HR team
- Inspect loads (trucks) for appropriate material type, size, and compliance with safety and PPE requirements.
- Assess inbound materials for proper classification and customer billing accuracy.
- Maintain detailed records of scale transactions, logs, and daily operational reports
- Coordinate with bulk handling teams, technicians, and truck drivers using radios (walkie-talkies/CB) to ensure efficient site flow.
- Handle routine and emergency communications, including phone calls and radio transmissions.
- Support dispatch team as needed.
- Greet and direct customers and drivers upon entry, providing clear instructions and professional support.
- Assist customers with weighing materials, including metals and aggregates, as needed.
- Ensure all safety protocols are communicated and followed; provide PPE when necessary.
- Support implementation and use of systems such as ATS ticketing and SAI scale software.
- Develop and maintain process documentation and step-by-step procedures for scale operations.
- Maintain and update inbound and outbound tracking systems, including rail and material databases.
- Perform end-of-shift reconciliation, ensuring accuracy of all scale data, tickets, and production numbers.
- Assist with administrative tasks including filing, inventory tracking, mailing, and database management.
- Support site security and act as a communication point during routine and emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Pay: $16.50 per hour
