Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Part-Time Front Desk Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and the ability to provide exceptional patient service. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, efficient appointment scheduling, and accurate management of medical records. The successful applicant will demonstrate proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, insurance verification, while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality policies.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression whether by phone or in person supporting our quiet, calm, office environment.
- Manage phone systems with courteous phone etiquette, professional tone , scheduling appointments and responding to patient inquiries, triaging calls.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility checks using systems such as Epic.
- Perform appointment scheduling and appointment chart reviews and confirmation calls.
- Scanning medical records into EMR.
- Uphold high standards of customer service by addressing patient needs promptly and professionally while maintaining a welcoming environment.
- Other tasks requested by Practice Management
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred, preferably within a medical office environment or healthcare organization.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Familiarity with health insurance plans like Medicare and other health insurance plans and understanding of HIPAA regulations are necessary for compliance.
- Strong clerical skills and managing electronic health records efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written professional communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems and provide outstanding patient service.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to multi task and organize work tasks while working in a fast paced position. Expected to follow office protocol.
