Human Resources & Facilities Manager
Location: California
Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 annually
About the Role
Upgrade Energy is seeking a hands-on Human Resources & Facilities Manager to serve as the primary HR and Facilities leader for our California operation.
This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional who enjoys balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day execution. You'll help build and scale our people practices while ensuring our facility remains safe, organized, functional, and employee-focused.
You'll work closely with employees, managers, and leadership teams to support employee relations, recruiting, compliance, workplace operations, and organizational growth in a fast-paced and expanding environment.
What You'll Do
Human Resources Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leaders at the California facility
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a strong emphasis on California labor law
- Lead employee relations activities, including:
- Coaching managers
- Conducting workplace investigations
- Resolving employee concerns
- Supporting performance management efforts
- Manage onboarding, orientation, and new hire integration programs
- Partner with hiring managers to recruit, interview, and hire production, warehouse, and operational employees
- Support employee engagement, retention, and culture-building initiatives
- Assist with policy implementation, employee communications, and HR program administration
- Maintain employee records and ensure HR documentation remains accurate and compliant
- Support workforce planning and organizational growth initiatives
- Partner with corporate HR leadership to implement company-wide programs and processes
- Help build and lead future HR team members as the organization grows
Facilities & Workplace Operations Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facility operations and employee workplace needs
- Manage relationships with vendors, including:
- Cleaning services
- Maintenance providers
- Caterers
- Other facility partners
- Coordinate repairs, maintenance, and workplace improvement projects
- Ensure facility cleanliness, organization, safety, and employee experience standards are maintained
- Respond to facility-related issues involving:
- Plumbing
- Electrical systems
- HVAC
- Security
- General building maintenance
- Support office moves, space planning, and workplace expansion projects
- Assist with workplace safety programs and compliance initiatives
- Help create a positive, welcoming, and productive environment for employees and visitors
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Strong knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance requirements
- Experience handling employee relations matters, investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Recruiting experience for hourly production, warehouse, manufacturing, or operational positions
- Experience supporting onboarding and employee engagement initiatives
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, operations, distribution, or other fast-paced environments
- Experience supporting facility operations, vendor management, workplace services, or office management
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification
