Position: Medical Assistant
Reports To: Medical Clinic Lead
Education/Skills Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Medical Assistant (MA) school or program
- Experience in Excel and Word documents
- Experience in utilizing Microsoft or Google Calendars
- Must have good verbal communication skills
- Must have a sound knowledge base of Insurance(s), their quality programs and audit protocol for the Inland Empire region
- Must have good planning skills, well-organized, adaptable, and meticulous
- Knowledge of all HIPAA rules and regulations

- Ensure all Prior Authorizations & Referrals, including Tertiary requests, include appropriate documentation and are submitted timely and accurately to the assigned OCS referral coordinator. Please refer to the policy and procedure document.
- Ensure Patient Satisfaction Surveys are completed.
- Perform timely callbacks to patient voice messages, text messages and patient portal messages.
- Message patients timely regarding Rx Refills, DME orders, Provider Feedback to questions, and Lab or Diagnostic tests negative results.
- Be able to problem-solve when patients are confused about care orders or upset about any treatment or care received.
- Rooming Patients, taking vitals, and charting all patients’ current medications in the EMR portal.
- Perform the following procedures but are not limited to Ear lavage, EKGs, Vision Check, hearing test, injections, wound care, splints, and assisting with any other in-office procedures. Also, possible lab draw, if certified.
- Complete paperwork for the following programs P4P, ACO, and 5 Star.
- Complete and submit all appropriate direct referrals/authorizations to insurance carriers
- Send non-direct referrals/authorization to the assigned Outpatient Call Solution (OCS) representative
- Keep all company information, documents, and forms in strict confidence, keeping all information at meetings and topics discussed confidential.
- Ensure all patients, employees, physicians, and organization information is kept in strict confidence.
- Ensure all patient information is kept in strict confidence.
- Must follow all safety and infection protocols
- Must complete applicable logs for all medications, equipment, and others.
- Must complete all Quality Measure Cheat-Sheets accurately and submit them to Clinic Medical Lead
- Ensure the office is kept in a clean and hygienic state
- Make sure clear communication channels are maintained between your provider, Clinic Lead, Clinical Site Manager, and yourself.
- Uphold any policy and procedures that are requested by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), VP of Operations, Director of Operations, and/or Human Resources Department.
