Overview
We are looking to hire an experienced estimator/project manager with a vast working knowledge of commercial civil construction: Concrete and asphalt paving, foundations, and dirt work. The position requires actively seeking bidding opportunities that fit our specialties, bidding/selling the work, managing awarded projects, and ultimately making sure the projects are profitable. Work the entire life cycle of a project, from bid invitation to punch list.
This experienced candidate needs to be dependable, self-motivated and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Meticulous attention to detail is a must. Will also possess sound organizational and time management skills.
This position will work closely with management, field workers, accounting, project owners, vendors, and subcontractors. A hands-on approach and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team is important.
Primary Responsibilities
· Analyze and review of construction plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates.
· Identify scope of work and perform quantity takeoffs of site, civil, and underground utility work.
· Identify project labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, written specifications, and related documents.
· Conduct project site visits and attend pre-bid site meetings during bidding process to learn scope of work and understand site conditions/restrictions.
· Conduct review and take-off of blueprints.
· Calculate the price of time, labor and materials, job specifically, prepare accurate and complete estimates accordingly.
· Prepare time charts to determine the length of time and number of workers needed to efficiently complete mass production, considering unforeseen circumstances.
· Develop preliminary construction schedules based on the project information provided in the plans and specifications.
· Ensure estimates are complete, well organized, and submitted timely.
· Be available during the construction process when unforeseen circumstances might demand a new estimate or change orders.
· Obtaining material and equipment quotes from suppliers. Sourcing and delivery of materials.
· Consulting with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor's degree in construction or related field preferred.
· 5+ years of Estimating and/or combination of estimating, field supervision, project management experience in paving and concrete construction related projects.
· Blueprint reading
· Interpret general business and construction documents, drawings, and technical procedures.
· Proven experience delivering successful results as an estimator.
· Strong prioritization & organizational skills.
· Conflict resolution skills.
· Ability to multitask.
· Innovative attitude.
· Proven experience with technology.
· Detail oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant amounts of information and be able to stay focused.

· Ability to communicate well with all levels of workers involved with the project.
· Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
