Entry-Level Field Crew Member – Land Surveying

About the Role:
Our company is growing, and we’re looking to train the next generation of land survey crew members. This is a hands-on, outdoor role perfect for someone with a strong work ethic and a background in the trades (e.g., carpentry, construction, landscaping, utilities, etc.) who’s ready to learn something new.
You’ll be paired with an experienced crew chief and trained on how to use state-of-the-art equipment to collect data, locate property boundaries, and perform land surveys.
No prior surveying experience is required — just a willingness to learn, show up on time, and take pride in doing precise, important work that supports real estate development across Illinois.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist in performing land surveys under the supervision of a crew chief
- Use equipment like total stations, GPS rovers, and scanners (we’ll train you)
- Help with setup, measuring, marking, and data collection
- Carry gear and navigate various job sites (residential, commercial, industrial)
- Interpret basic plans, maps, and legal descriptions
- Maintain equipment and follow job site safety procedures
You Might Be A Good Fit If You Have Experience In:
- Carpentry
- Construction labor or site layout
- Fence or utility installation
- Landscaping or hardscaping
- General contracting or skilled trades
And You Are:
- Reliable, punctual, and ready to work outdoors in all seasons
- Comfortable with early mornings, physical tasks, and being on your feet all day
- Able to read a tape measure and take direction precisely
- Interested in learning new technology and growing with a company
- A team player with a good attitude and strong attention to detail
- Comfortable with driving between jobsites (a valid driver’s license is required)

Hours: 40 hr/week, possible OT in busy season
Compensation: $18-$20 per hour depending on experience

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
