Accounting Clerk
Location: Headquarters – Baraboo, WI - ONSITE, Remote not available

FLSA Status: Full Time – Non-Exempt (Clock Hour)
Overview
Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association is Wisconsin's largest livestock marketing cooperative and one of the largest livestock marketing organizations. The Accounting Clerk supports the accounting department with daily data entry, reconciliation support, administrative tasks and will service markets, members, and corporate office.
Essential Functions
- Enter and maintain financial transaction data daily across enterprise-wide ERP systems, databases and spreadsheets, following established data entry standards and procedures.
- Maintain and update customer/buyer records, correcting or reentering data as needed to keep account information accurate.
- Assist with bank reconciliations by importing daily banking transactions and positive pay solutions.
- Process daily direct deposit transactions and livestock transactions for auction and private treaty markets.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting files and financial filing systems, both physical and electronic. Assist with audits as requested.
- Serve as a point of contact for incoming calls and facilitating to the business process owner.
- Complete periodic inventory counts and maintain storeroom supplies (must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.).
- Follow established procedures, internal controls, and applicable state and federal regulations in all daily work.
- Support month-end close by assisting with reconciliations, reporting, and established deadlines as directed by the Controller or Senior Accountant.
- Provide backup coverage and general support to accounting staff as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and member information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Associate's degree or relevant certification a plus, or equivalent work experience.
- Accounting/finance experience in a fast-paced corporate environment a plus. Demonstrate the ability to be reliable and punctual on-site attendance is an essential function of this position to ensure adequate daily coverage, maintain team productivity and meet operational deadlines.
- Proficiency working across multiple ERP systems and Microsoft Office, such as, spreadsheets, accounting software, and online platforms to manage daily transaction volume. Sage 100 experience a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially when handling repetitive daily data entry.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple entities and deadlines at once.
- Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills, working efficiently, and being well organized.
- Strong commitment to delivering high-quality, on-time, and accurate transactions/reports.
- Works independently and as part of a team, communicates with external and internal associates respectfully without needing much oversight.
- Growth mindset and initiative — comfortable operating in a growing, changing department and willing to take on new responsibilities, propose improvements, and adapt as processes evolve.
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
