Puget Sound Training Center (PSTC) is a workforce development nonprofit organization in Renton, WA dedicated to helping individuals achieve economic self-sufficiency through employment, skills training, and supportive services. PSTC serves diverse populations throughout King County, including refugees, immigrants, low-income individuals, and job seekers facing barriers to employment. Through workforce training, employment services, career coaching, and community partnerships, PSTC empowers participants to build sustainable careers and strengthen their communities.
Position Summary:
The Social Media & Marketing Coordinator plays a critical role in advancing PSTC's mission by increasing community awareness, supporting program recruitment, and expanding organizational visibility. This position is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies that effectively promote PSTC's programs, services, events, success, and overall impact. The Social Media & Marketing Coordinator will serve as the organization's primary content creator and storyteller, helping communicate the value of PSTC's work to participants, community partners, employers, donors, funders, and the public. This position works closely with the Director and program staff to ensure consistent messaging, strong brand presence, and meaningful community engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing & Communications
- Manage PSTC's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and the PSTC website.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a monthly content calendar aligned with organizational priorities and events.
- Create engaging content including graphics, videos, photos, participant success stories, announcements, and educational materials about PSTC.
- Design marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, presentations, event materials, and promotional campaign materials.
- Maintain consistency in organizational branding, messaging, and visual identity across all communication channels.
- Update and maintain website content to ensure information remains accurate and relevant.
- Route web-based inquiries to the appropriate staff to support overall operations.
- Draft and distribute organizational communications, press releases, and email marketing campaigns.
Program Recruitment & Outreach
- Promote PSTC workforce development programs, training opportunities, employment services, and special initiatives through a variety of marketing channels.
- Support participant recruitment efforts by creating outreach materials and targeted campaigns.
- Coordinate promotional efforts for classes, workshops, hiring events, job fairs, open houses, and community engagement activities.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify recruitment needs and develop effective outreach strategies.
- Support community engagement efforts that increase awareness of PSTC services among target populations.
Storytelling & Community Impact
- Collect participant testimonials, success stories, photos, and impact data to showcase organizational outcomes.
- Develop spotlight features and success stories that demonstrate the effectiveness of PSTC programs.
- Assist with the creation of annual reports, impact reports, and funder communications.
- Highlight employer partnerships, community collaborations, and organizational achievements through strategic storytelling.
Fundraising & Development Support
- Assist with agency-wide communications regarding fundraising progress, campaigns, sponsorship opportunities, and donor engagement activities.
- Develop marketing materials and promotional content to support fundraising initiatives and special events.
- Assist with donor stewardship efforts by helping communicate organizational impact and outcomes.
- Support all campaigns, annual fundraising efforts, and special fundraising events as assigned.
- Track engagement metrics and campaign performance to evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for growth.
Administrative & Organizational Support
- Maintain marketing databases, media files, photo libraries, and contact lists.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond appropriately to comments, messages, and inquiries via social media channels and the PSTC website.
- Prepare regular reports regarding social media performance, marketing activities, audience growth, and campaign outcomes.
- Attend staff meetings, community events, program activities, and organizational functions as required.
- Support special projects and other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field, or one to two years of equivalent professional experience.
- One to two years of experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
- Understanding of community outreach, engagement, and recruitment strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Canva, Microsoft Office Suite, and major social media platforms.
- Experience using a CANON EOS Rebel T7 DSLR camera or a professional camera.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to serving diverse communities and supporting workforce development initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a nonprofit organization.
- Understanding of community outreach, engagement, and recruitment strategies.
