About us: RISE Up is a program that exists within the Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) at First United Methodist Church in Montgomery, AL. RISE Up provides early childhood education and therapy in one location for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. Through an inclusive classroom model, Occupational therapy, Speech therapy and Pediatric Physical therapy are provided at no additional cost to special needs children enrolled at ECDC. Our mission is to provide families with an inclusive environment to meet the needs of traditional and nontraditional learners through high-quality early childhood education and therapy.
Job Description: Under the general direction of the RISE Up Program Coordinator, has primary responsibility for assisting in providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children with special needs enrolled in RISE Up at First United Methodist Church’s ECDC Program.
Education: High School Diploma, GED
Experience: 19 years of age, 3+ Years of Childcare Experience Preferred
Job Duties:
Assisting the lead teacher in implementing individualized education programs and adapting curriculum to meet the needs of the child.
Providing one-on-one support to the special needs child during classroom activities including: academic, social, and recreational.
Helping with daily routines such as feeding, toileting, dressing, and mobility assistance as needed.
Use specialized equipment and assistive technology to facilitate the child's participation in activities if needed.
Collaborating with the lead teacher, RISE Up team, and other relevant personnel to monitor and assist in documenting the child's progress.
Maintaining a safe and clean learning environment, always ensuring the child’s safety.
Participating in training and professional development opportunities related to special education, child development, and inclusive practices.
Communicating effectively with parents and caregivers regarding the child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
Participating in team meetings and contributing to the development of strategies and interventions to support the child's growth and development.
Supporting and promoting inclusive activities that engage the child with their peers and foster social interaction.
Follow ECDC, FUMC and DHR policies.
Participates and supports fundraising events on and off campus.
