The Pulmonary Clinic APP is responsible for coordinating the care of patients with pulmonary nodules and being a liaison for patients and staff. The APP serves as the primary point of contact for patients, families, and referring providers, ensuring timely diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and follow-up in clinic. Key Responsibilities include tracking and monitoring patients from initial nodule identification through diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship or surveillance; providing patient care in the lung nodule clinic or pulmonary clinic as needed by taking medical histories, examining, treating; facilitating scheduling of diagnostic laboratory testing and/or imaging, biopsies, and consultations; serving as the primary liaison for patients with incidental or suspicious pulmonary nodules; ensuring timely communication of abnormal imaging results and follow-up recommendations. Additionally, the APP will provide patient education, patient support, assist with program development and actively participate in quality improvement.
The above duties and other duties as assigned will be performed in collaboration with a delegating and/or supervising physician.
Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or Nurse Practitioner program.
Licensure: Registered PA or APRN license, or eligible for license, in state of Georgia. AHA BLS CPR required.
Experience: Demonstration of clinical competency in the Advanced Practice Provider role. Two years’ experience preferred.
Skills: Demonstration of clinical competency in the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner role. Demonstration of qualities of leadership and sound clinical judgment. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, fellow co-workers and other members of the health care team. Ability to effectively interpret, implement and support hospital policies, regulations, philosophy and objectives.
