Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Full-Time City Treasurer to oversee the financial management and fiscal integrity of our municipality. In this pivotal role, you will lead the city’s treasury functions, ensuring efficient cash management, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with all relevant regulations. Your expertise will help safeguard public funds.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
· Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Prefer some experience with websites and social media
· Ability to interact positively with the public in person and by phone
· Ability to operate office equipment (computer, copier, fax, scanner)
· Good organizational skills, punctual
· Self-starter and team member
· Ability to walk or drive to distribute event information
· Payment data entry and 10-key calculator skills
· Accounting experience preferred
· Accuracy and attention to detail
Days: Monday through Friday, and some weekends with community events.
Works Hours: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Primary Responsibilities
- Joint access to all city bank accounts and CDs with the Mayor and the City Clerk.
- Review and processing of ACH bank transactions for all city bank accounts.
- Maintains records and accounting of CDs, Lease Purchases, and all city bank accounts.
- Receives, records, and makes bank deposits.
- Prepare vouchers and issue and sign checks for payments for special projects.
- Performs skilled account-keeping work.
- Maintains accurate financial records and files.
- Assists in payroll accounting.
- Cooperates with other City employees and City Hall staff by producing spreadsheets, print-outs, and other information from the records and files.
- Fields questions, concerns, and complaints from the general public.
· Helps answer and direct incoming phone calls.
· Collects payments for all other permits, fees, and fines issued by the City.
· Assist the City Clerk with planning, advertising, and implementing city events.
· Assist with website and Facebook updates.
· Maintain and order stock of office and copier supplies and City forms.
· Assists with reservations of the Community Center.
· Participates in the yearly audit.
Secondary Responsibilities
· In the absence of the City Clerk, attends meetings of the City Council, submits minutes for approval by the Council of previous meetings, and maintains official records of such meetings.
· Assist with other tasks as assigned.
