Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on OTR routes, adhering strictly to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo is secured properly on flatbed.
- Navigate routes using GPS systems to optimize delivery times while maintaining awareness of road conditions and hazards.
- Transport various types of freight.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to ensure compliance with safety standards and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, and delivery documentation in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, especially with flatbed.
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations related to trucking.
- Skilled in route driving using GPS navigation systems for efficient delivery planning.
- Ability to load & unload freight safely, including manual handling of cargo and securing loads on flatbeds.
- Experience with automobile transportation and logistics cargo handling is a plus.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; familiarity with manual transmission and automatic trucks preferred.
- 5 years experience required.
