Duties
- Assist with menu planning and meal preparation, ensuring adherence to recipes and portion sizes
- Prepare a variety of food items using proper knife skills, slicing techniques, and cooking methods
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food processors
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas by following strict sanitation and cleaning protocols
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards in handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and service times
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality standards
Experience
- Prior experience in dietary departments or dietary aide roles preferred
- Hands-on experience in food service or restaurant environments demonstrating strong food handling skills
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and food safety management practices
- Culinary experience including recipe adherence, meal prep, and cooking techniques such as slicing, chopping, and plating
- Familiarity with operating kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience with menu planning, food presentation, and catering operations is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members
