Position Summary
The Director of Residential Operations oversees daily administration of the residential programs. Responsibilities include hiring, training, scheduling and immediate supervision of designated residential staff as well as oversight of direct client care. Position collaborates with the leadership team members to maintain client safety, satisfaction and customer service. The Director of Residential Operations also provides support for both staff and clients through various clinical and administrative activities, with the goal of achieving optimal client outcomes.
Relationships and Contacts
Within the organization: Maintains frequent and close working relationships with department leaders, direct reports, and team members throughout all levels of the facility.
Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains professional therapeutic engagement with clients/families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors as needed and directed.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities

Provides immediate supervision for Director of Milieu Services and other positions, as needed; oversees overall milieu operations ensuring a high level of client safety and satisfaction throughout various levels of care, including program development and improvement.
- Participates in hiring process, training, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluation and management processes.
- Facilitates team meetings and engages team in performance improvement activities.

Oversees and supports scheduling, ensuring consistent coverage is in place in support of client safety and continuity of care.
- Ensures contract compliance and program quality according to accreditation standards, local, state and federal laws, as well as best practices.

Ensures client values and cultural beliefs are taken into account throughout various levels of care.

Monitors program goals in alignment with established policies and procedures.

Promotes client engagement throughout the treatment process by building supportive relationships participating in group meetings, meals and other therapeutic milieu activities.

Provides direct client care including the development of group material as needs, providing individual psychotherapy, group therapy and family therapy as census and/or staffing requires.

Implements systems of communication ensuring pertinent client information is communicated across all functional areas in a timely manner, including clinical updates, treatment team updates, client schedules, etc.

Maintains timely/clinically appropriate documentation, ensuring team members are trained in and adhere to documentation processes.
- Assists with client admissions, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and efficiently.

Facilitates new client orientations by introducing program expectations, policies, available services and answering questions to support a smooth transition.

Assists with insurance utilization reviews and concurrent authorization processes as needed, advocating for clients to secure appropriate levels of care and continuing treatment.

Coordinates appropriate reviews between facility and managed care organizations.

Supports primary therapists by maintaining communication with referring partners, outpatient teams, and families as appropriate.

Provides support with discharge planning, including preparing discharge summaries and coordinating referrals and community support services.

Assists with professional outreach, networking and marketing initiatives as needed.

Develops, implements and facilitates training promoting clinical excellence and client-centered care in alignment with regulatory compliance and continuous quality improvement.
Additional Responsibilities

Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.

Performs routine forms of daily client care while assisting and ensuring timely and effective clinical activities, as needed.

Supports Business Development, Marketing, and Alumni Services as needed and requested.
- Assists with the timely completion of administrative duties, as needed.

Conducts tours for clients, family members, students, visitors, as requested.

Conducts chart audits following program policy timelines, as requested.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in training and educational opportunities.

Maintains positive attitude and acts as a team player with others on the treatment team.

Attends all supervisory trainings within assigned time frames as required by the facility.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience
Position requires a bachelor’s degree, a minimum 2 years’ experience in the Health & Human Service Field, preferably within a behavioral healthcare treatment setting and 1+ years of supervision experience.

Additional Requirements

Position requires incumbent to have a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance and acceptable driving record.
- Clearance of criminal background, TB test, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.

Current CPR and First Aid certification
