American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care (IMCU/PICU) position at a Level 1 trauma, teaching children's hospital in Arkansas, requiring prior travel experience and Epic proficiency.

Located in a 359-bed, Level 1 trauma, academic teaching children's hospital in Little Rock, AR
-
Assignment is on the 3C Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), a 13-bed unit within a 26-bed PICU cluster
-
PICU patient population includes respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post-arrest, blunt and penetrating trauma, neuro, surgical post-ops, urology, ortho, ENT (trach revisions, cleft lip/palate), burns in intubated patients under 13 years, and new onset DKA
-
IMCU patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and diagnoses stepped down from the PICU
-
Nurse-to-patient ratios: PICU 1:1–2; IMCU 1:3–4

Ancillary support includes 1–2 CNAs/PCTs per shift
-
Advanced Practice providers are present on the units; PICU is staffed with Residents, Fellows, and Attending MDs; IMCU has Hospitalists until 11 PM, then Residents

Equipment includes Pyxis with barcode scanning, pharmacy dose, GE Dash, Servo-I, and long-term vents (IMCU); in-house transport system available

RTs and RNs co-manage ventilators

EMR is Epic (experience required); Pyxis is the medication system
-
12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), 36 hours per week
-
Schedule is manager/scheduler driven; every other weekend is required
-
No on-call requirement; holiday coverage is required as needed

Floating is required within the ICU cluster (NICE, PICU, Burn PICU, IMCU); travelers are first to float
-
Active RN license in Arkansas or a compact state currently in hand
-
Current BLS certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS and TNCC required based on unit (Nursys verification required)
-
Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required for PICU placement; 2–5 years of clinical experience in the specialty required overall
-
PICU experience required for all IMCU candidates due to floating requirements
-
Recent Epic EMR experience required

At least one previous travel nursing assignment required

Must be nicotine-free (nicotine testing required)

At least one professional reference within the last year required for consideration
-
Specialty skills checklist required for consideration

Orientation consists of approximately 2–3 days, including specialty testing
-
Child Life and Education specialists are actively involved in evaluating patients for education needs during prolonged hospitalizations
-
Up to two parents may remain at the bedside
-
Renal transplants are managed in the CVICU; ECMO is also located in the CVICU
-
Dress code is facility-specific and must be followed
