BOH Crew Member Job Responsibility
The BOH Crew Member supports daily Back of House operations by preparing ingredients and menu items, operating kitchen equipment, washing dishes and utensils, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. Team members are cross-trained and may be assigned to Nigiri, Kitchen, Fish, or Rice & Dishwashing duties based on business needs, training, and management direction.
The key responsibilities are listed below; however, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Prepare menu items in timely manner while maintaining product consistency, and presentation
Perform food preparation and cooking tasks accurately and efficiently in accordance with company recipes and procedures
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and properly while ensuring product consistency and quality
Prepare, portion, and handle seafood, meat, rice, vegetables, and other ingredients in accordance with company quality standards
Follow established BOH operational procedures, including food preparation, portioning, storage, and kitchen organization
Maintain food safety, sanitation, inventory rotation, and quality control standards in accordance with company guidelines and FIFO principles
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, workstations, and storage areas
Wash and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, workstations, and storage in a timely manner
Support daily kitchen operations by completing assigned tasks efficiently and accurately
Maintain professional and effective communication with team members and management
Skills and Qualifications
The BOH Crew candidate should have the following skills and qualifications to fulfill the role:
Prior restaurant, food preparation, or seafood handling experience preferred
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and quality control practices
Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and operational standards
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and properly
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing operational needs
Demonstrated professionalism and reliability
Experience Requirements
The BOH Crew Member typically needs 1-2 years of experience in the restaurant, food preparation, or kitchen
environment. This helps them understand how restaurants work and feel prepared for the unique challenges they
may face.
Experience with Sushi chef, fish preparation, portioning, filleting, or sushi-related operations is a plus.
Education and Training Requirements
There are no minimum educational requirements for the BOH Crew Member position.
Certifications such as Food Handler or other relevant certifications are preferred.
Culinary arts education or related experience is considered a plus, as it may provide a deeper understanding of
kitchen operations.
Compensation: $23.00 (*)The wage includes the service charge/tips
