Location: Remote workplace with regular in-person programming at locations across Atlanta. Candidates must reside in the MARTA service area of metro Atlanta by the start date of employment.

Propel ATL seeks an enthusiastic, skilled, and engaged mission-driven professional to join our team as Program Coordinator.

Position Summary
The Program Coordinator has a key role in bringing Propel ATL’s mission to life by ensuring the successful delivery of our programs. This position combines hands-on program implementation with strong administrative coordination, overseeing the logistics of program activities, and building and strengthening partnerships throughout the community.
Propel ATL’s programs, including and , feature a wide range of activities such as bike and pedestrian safety education, group rides, webinars, community engagement and outreach, walk audits, and stakeholder meetings. The Program Coordinator helps plan and execute these activities while fostering partnerships and engaging community members to build support for safer, more connected streets.
With a strong focus on direct service and community engagement, the Program Coordinator cultivates meaningful relationships with community-based organizations, advocacy and program partners, residents, supporters, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The role also manages program contractors and vendors to ensure high-quality program delivery.
Primary Responsibilities
PROGRAM OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION
- Inform and support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs activities, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Ensure programs are delivered effectively and on schedule, in alignment with implementation and evaluation plans, timelines, and grant deliverables.
- Track program metrics, milestones, participation data, and deliverables.
- Create and maintain accurate program records and coordinate with team members to support complete and timely reporting.
- Monitor deadlines and documentation requirements for grants and other program activities.
- Assist with program budget administration, including processing invoices, contractor payments, and other financial transactions.
- Develop program schedules and coordinate logistics with Propel staff, contractors, vendors, and partners
- Serve as the main point of contact for program participants by answering questions, providing guidance, and connecting them with resources that support their success.
- Work collaboratively with staff to integrate Principles of Mobility Justice into programs.
- Help program participants and community partners better understand transportation inequities and opportunities to advance mobility justice.
PROGRAM DELIVERY
- Deliver bicycle safety education programs by providing instruction, ensuring appropriate staffing, and updating curriculum and materials as needed.
- Recruit, manage, and support a diverse network of certified bicycle instructors by serving as the primary staff contact, coordinating schedules and logistics, communicating expectations, managing documentation, and supporting timely completion of work.
- Oversee administrative processes related to bicycle safety education, including contractor coordination, invoicing, and program tracking and reporting requirements.
- Support coordination of neighborhood-based pedestrian safety program activities (such as walk audits and tactical urbanism projects), with a priority on equitable outcomes
COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT
- Generate compelling program communications including information to be used in social media posts, web content, outreach materials and in storytelling that amplifies the experiences of advocacy and community partners.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships that engage community members in our campaigns, programs, and events, .Collaborate with staff to recruit and retain volunteers as needed.
- Build and maintain relationships with cycling and pedestrian groups and coordinate resource-sharing through classes, events, and partner activities.
- Inform and support planning, implementation, and evaluation of organizational engagement strategies.
- Communicate the ideas, priorities, challenges, concerns, and other feedback from community partners and program participants to the appropriate internal team members.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with staff, support event and large meeting logistics and operations, including virtual or hybrid events.
- Support implementation of advocacy initiatives in coordination with the advocacy team as needed.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
- Has coordinated nonprofit program operations and activities (or equivalent), including administrative, financial, and logistical responsibilities (2+ years).
- Has been involved in coalition building, community advocacy, and/or community/civic engagement initiatives (1+ year).
- Has constructively worked with and on behalf of individuals and communities most impacted by ongoing racial injustices, systemic oppression, and racial disparities.
- Has organized community-based initiatives.
- Has organized and facilitated community and/or stakeholder meetings.
- Has created compelling public-facing content for websites such as blog posts or event pages.
- Has used collaborative project management platforms and digital tools to generate and present work products, organize work, and manage relationships.
- Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills are a plus.
KNOWLEDGE
- Fully understands grantor-grantee relations and obligations as it relates to delivery of grant-funded programs.
- Understanding of cohort-based programs, including the stages of participant engagement, transition points, and group dynamics.
- Familiarity with program evaluation fundamentals.
- Skilled in managing participant data, tracking program metrics and milestones, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of event planning and logistics management, including coordinating orientations, information sessions, workshops, and on-site events.
- Familiarity with Atlanta’s communities, community institutions, and community-based organizations.
- Recognizes and understands Atlanta’s history — especially, its racial disparities and record of intentional harm perpetrated by white supremacist policies and actions.
- Understands community engagement principles and strategies.
- Able to ride a bike in mixed city traffic and off-street trails.
- Able to pass a background check.
- Has, or is willing to pursue:
- League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certification or equivalent
- First Aid/CPR certification for adults and children
- Working knowledge of bicycle maintenance, including flat repair and regular maintenance

WORKPLACE FORMAT
Primarily remote, requiring regular in-person, on-site responsibilities supporting bicycle safety education classes, pedestrian safety programs, and other community-based activities across Atlanta. Includes periodic evening and weekend hours. Most locations are accessible via transit, biking, or walking. Car ownership is not required.
Physical requirements for this position: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 10 lbs. frequently to move objects.

Employer pays 50% of each employee’s medical insurance premium in addition to partial dental and vision, and fully covered basic life and long-term disability insurance.
RETIREMENT CONTRIBUTIONS
SIMPLE IRA individual retirement account with employer 3% matching contribution after 60 days.
PAID LEAVE
- Annual paid holidays include one week winter break, along with 7 recognized holidays and 9 “floating” holidays that can be used at any time.
- Vacation accrues at the rate of eight hours per 160 hours worked for the first two years of employment, then increases at years 3, 5, and 10.
