Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform treatment plans.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication administration.
- Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, ostomy care, and tube feeding while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for medical documentation and patient data management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in acute care, long-term care, hospice & palliative medicine, or behavioral health settings.
- Provide patient education on health coaching topics such as medication management, nutrition, and chronic disease management.
- Support emergency response efforts by managing airway issues, ventilator use, trauma medicine protocols, and critical care procedures in Level I & II trauma centers or ICU environments.
- Assist with specimen collection/processing, laboratory testing coordination, and diagnostic evaluations including sonography or medical imaging when necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current registration in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/CCU (Critical Care Unit), pediatric or neonatal units (PICU), or post-acute care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner; proficiency in medical documentation is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex procedures including IV insertion, phlebotomy, venipuncture, sterile processing techniques, and aseptic technique adherence.
- Critical thinking skills with experience in triage protocols and acute pain management; familiarity with infectious disease care and infection control practices is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays; knowledge of memory care or dementia/Alzheimer’s care is advantageous.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required; additional certifications like DME (Durable Medical Equipment) or ostomy care are a plus. Pay: $36.00 - $40.00 per hour
