JAE Oregon is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Plating Lab Technician to join our team. SUMMARY
Responsible for make-up, testing, and adjustment of all Plating baths. Responsible for operation and maintenance of related test and process equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Make-up, testing, and maintenance of all Plating baths.
2. Ensure all safety devices are in place, functional and in compliance with Company Safety policies and procedures.
3. Work closely and cooperatively with Plating production and others to assure optimum performance of equipment, solutions, and personnel to achieve production goals.
4. Establish, document, and maintain accurate procedures for plating bath make-up, testing, and adjustment.
5. Monitor and recommend improvements to Plating department equipment, systems, and processes.
6. Train others to perform process tests and adjustments.
7. Interface with Quality Assurance personnel to ensure compliance with established departmental procedures.
8. Maintain accurate production, testing and plating bath maintenance records.
9. Receive and transport chemical supplies and equipment parts.
10. Verify completion of routine procedures relating to function of Plating baths and processes.
11. Prepare reports on results of process analysis and experimentation.
12. Maintain the Plating Department Chemical Inventory, order chemicals as needed to maintain established minimum supplies to support plating production
13. Operate and maintain the Plating Lab mini-line and perform limited production runds and Engineering test orders.
14. Comply with Company and area safety policies and practices

15. Complete on the job training and specialized training as required.
16. Coordinate and monitor – make-up, testing and maintenance of all plating baths, provide feedback to management.
17. Train others to troubleshoot and perform process tests and adjustments of plating baths.
18. Review, revise, and recommend improvements to process monitoring documentation.
19. Coordinate shipments of samples for troubleshooting of process and chemical issues.
20. Assist engineer in test development and improvement.
21. Coordinate “Design of Experiment” efforts with engineering, for solutions analysis and maintenance improvement.
22. Coordinate, monitor and maintain Lab Wizard analytical software program.
23. Recommend changes and improvements to Lab Wizard analytical software program.
24. Assess need and efficiency for new test equipment and processes.
25. Ensure accurate production, testing and plating bath records, initiate changes as needed.
26. Responsible for maintaining chemistry safely.
27. Responsible for making all Cyanide additions to baths
28. Responsible for Chemical inventory and the timely ordering of chemicals.

JOB SCOPE
This position performs in diverse work situation with frequent variations for the norm involving a high degree of complexity; This position contributes to the development of new concepts and procedures and operates with little direction given. Work is performed independently, with minimal supervision, but under the direction of the production supervisor. The impact of errors could result in product of unacceptable quality, damaged machinery, and tools, thereby shutting down equipment and stopping production.
SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no supervisory responsibility but may advise operator and technicians of procedural requirements.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS
Interfaces primarily with internal stakeholders, including plating department personnel, production staff, and the area supervisor, with occasional interaction with vendors and site visitors. Communication may periodically involve confidential or sensitive technical or business information and is often initiated independently by the incumbent. Approximately 5% of interactions are via telephone and 95% are in person, with all contacts occurring with internal customers, vendors, or visitors.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
- · Able to regularly lift and move up to 49 pounds as part of normal job duties.
- Comfortable moving around the production area, including walking, bending, and reaching throughout the shift.
- Able to sit or stand for most of the shift, depending on work assignment.
- Vision corrected by 20/20 and ability to distinguish colors needed to safely perform the work.
- Comfortable working around cleaners, solvents, and plating chemicals while following all safety and PPE requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Three years progressive experience in plating bath maintenance roles or chemistry degree and equivalent training.
- Advanced knowledge of plating and wet bench chemistry.
- Ability to perform highs school math through algebra.
- Must have legible handwriting in English.
- Must be able to understand and convey verbal and written instructions in English.
