This position is responsible for freight car inspection and repair. You will participate in inspecting, repairing and maintaining railcars consistent with industry standards, company requirements and AAR/FRA requirements. Employees will be required to use hand tools, power tools, cutting equipment and measuring instruments as well as operate forklifts, torches, and occasional welders (if trained). Training is provided
- Inspect car components for compliance with FRA and AAR standards
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety and operations
- Work in all weather conditions (RAIN, SNOW, HOT, COLD)
- Climbing vertical ladders up to 20 ft
- Opening and closing railcar doors
- Welding experienced preferred but not required **Welding is very minimal and as needed
