Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented field assistant to join our growing company. Your primary role will be to provide support to our lead technicians in the inspections, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fire (sprinkler, kitchen, extinguishers, etc) and low voltage systems (fire alarm, security, CO2, access control, etc). It's a training position for those looking to enter the fire protection and low voltage field. Having some prior experience with low voltage electrical systems is a plus.
Primary Duties
- Assist in installing low voltage wiring, cabling, sensors, alarms, and surveillance equipment following schematics and system design plans
- Assist in installing fire suppression systems, such as sprinkler and kitchen suppression.
- Support senior technicians in troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm and security systems and remote access software
- Use hand tools and power tools safely to perform system upgrades or maintenance tasks
- Assist in conducting annual, semi-annual and quarterly fire inspections to verify system functionality as required by the authorities having jurisdiction
- Maintain detailed documentation of all activities, including installation, service calls and inspections
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with NEC & NFPA standards and local safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven experience in low voltage installation or related fields is preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Knowledge of electrical principles related to low voltage systems is essential.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients during field service tasks
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for travel between job sites
- Must be able to pass a drug test (which includes THC) and criminal background check and acquire a fingerprint clearance card
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
