Contract Embedded Firmware Engineer

Position Overview:
Our client is seeking multiple Contract Embedded Firmware Engineers to develop rugged, high-performance Ethernet networking equipment used across aerospace and defense applications. The team develops ruggedized Ethernet switches designed for demanding environments, including fighter aircraft, maritime platforms, and underwater systems.
Responsibilities:
- Develop embedded firmware using C in Linux and RTOS environments.
- Perform kernel-level development and low-level software programming.
- Develop and maintain device drivers and hardware interfaces.
- Develop software for ARM-based processors.
- Interface directly with hardware, peripherals, and networking components.
- Troubleshoot and debug embedded systems at the hardware/software boundary.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and systems engineers throughout the development lifecycle.
- Support development of rugged Ethernet switches across multiple defense product lines.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong embedded C programming experience.
- Experience developing in Linux and/or RTOS environments.
- Experience with device driver development.
- Experience with kernel-level or low-level embedded development.
- Experience with ARM processors.
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interfaces.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced defense/aerospace development environment.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR regulations.
Preferred Experience:
- Embedded networking or Ethernet switch development.
- Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical systems.
- Aerospace, defense, military, or maritime experience.
- Experience working with networking protocols and hardware interfaces.
