The Macoupin County Democrat Enquirer seeks a full-time General Assignment reporter to cover the Carlinville area.
Assignments will be based around city council, school board, business, and events.
Responsibilities:
- Pitch, edit and write multiple news stories each week
- Conduct interviews in-person and over the phone
- Supplement stories with photos
- Work under deadline
- Synthesis material from multiple sources
- Shift work hours to attend weekend or after-work events
- Represent the Herald in a professional manner
A journalism degree and some experience is preferred, but not required. Any candidate with excellent writing and photography skills is encouraged to apply. Adobe InDesign skills are also highly desirable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
