Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes related to welding, machining, and fabrication. This role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, and safety while reducing costs and ensuring production meets customer specifications and delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes for welding, machining, and fabrication operations
- Create and maintain work instructions, process sheets, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve issues related to welding, CNC machining, and assembly
- Analyze production processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, cycle time improvement, and waste elimination
- Collaborate with design engineering on new product introductions (NPI) to ensure manufacturability
- Select and implement tooling, fixtures, and equipment for welding and machining processes
- Develop and optimize CNC programs and machining parameters (feeds, speeds, tooling selection)
- Support welding processes including MIG, TIG, and/or robotic welding; ensure compliance with welding standards (AWS, etc.)
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, including ISO requirements and customer specifications
- Participate in root cause analysis for defects and implement process improvements
- Work with suppliers and vendors on materials, tooling, and equipment improvements
- Ensure all processes meet safety and environmental regulations
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
- 2–5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (welding, machining, or fabrication preferred)
- Hands-on experience with CNC machining (mills, lathes) and welding processes
- Experience with fabrication processes such as cutting, forming, and assembly
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of welding processes (MIG, TIG, robotic welding preferred)
- Understanding of machining principles, GD&T, and blueprint reading
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam, etc.)
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools
- Experience with process validation and capability studies (CPK, PPAP, etc.)
- Understanding of tooling design and fixture development
Preferred Qualifications
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent)
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume or high-volume production environments

Work Environment
- Combination of office and shop floor environment

Pay: $71,643.45 - $86,280.29 per year
