Position Summary
The Fabricator - Signage & Custom Builds is a skilled, hands-on role responsible for building, assembling, and finishing custom signage, specialty builds, fixtures, scenic elements, and branded environments in a fast-paced production shop.
This is not a basic sign-making role. We are looking for a fabricator with broad build experience across wood, metal, plastics, acrylic, hardware, LEDs, and low-voltage illuminated elements, while maintaining a strong understanding of signage, custom builds, and brand presentation.
This position is shop-focused (approximately 80-90% in the shop and 10-20% in field support) and plays a key role in delivering high-quality work that meets brand standards, production requirements, and tight deadlines.
You will work closely with the Fabrication & Installation Manager and production team to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, safely, and with exceptional craftsmanship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
● Build, assemble, and finish custom signage, branded elements, displays, and one-off fabricated builds.
● Work with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, acrylic, ACM, PVC, plastics, laminates, hardware, LEDs, and related substrates.
● Read and interpret shop drawings, production files, sketches, measurements, and build specifications.
● Measure, cut, assemble, test-fit, and prepare components for finishing, packing, shipping, or installation.
● Perform clean finish work, including sanding, trimming, edge details, bonding, polishing, hardware installation, and final assembly.
● Fabricate dimensional and illuminated components, including acrylic parts, LED placement, low-voltage wiring paths, and power supply mounting.
● Operate shop tools and equipment, including saws, routers, sanders, drills, hand tools, power tools, and CNC or router equipment as needed.
● Review drawings and builds flag issues early when something does not appear practical, buildable, safe, or efficient.
● Collaborate with fabrication, graphics, project management, design, and installation teams to solve build challenges.
● Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following company safety protocols.

You are especially strong at taking complicated parts, mixed materials, and unfinished components and turning them into polished, install-ready finished products

Experience & Expertise
● 5-7 years of hands-on experience in signage fabrication, custom fabrication, exhibit building, scenic fabrication, millwork, finished carpentry, metal fabrication, or related production work.
● Strong fit-and-finish skills, including detailed final assembly, clean edge work, hardware integration, acrylic finishing, low voltage wiring, and problem-solving around complex custom builds.
● Experience working with multiple materials, including wood, metal, plastics, acrylic, PVC, aluminum, laminates, and related substrates.
● Signage experience is strongly preferred, including dimensional signage, illuminated signage, cabinets, acrylic letters, displays, vinyl, graphics, or branded environments.
● Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, build plans, measurements, cut files, and production specifications.
● Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and standard fabrication shop equipment.
● Understanding of layout, squareness, level, plumb, fit, finish, and clean assembly.
● Basic experience with LEDs, low-voltage lighting, wiring paths, power supply mounting, and illuminated elements preferred.
● Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt when projects change quickly.
Preferred
● Experience in sign shops, exhibit fabrication, scenic shops, experiential production, millwork shops, or custom display fabrication.
● Experience with illuminated signage, LED integration, channel letters, sign cabinets, dimensional signs, and branded displays.
● CNC, router, laser, welding, painting, finishing, or vinyl experience is a plus.
● OSHA 10 certification preferred or will be obtained while on the job
● Forklift, lift, and DOT medical card preferred or will be obtained while on the job
Job Essentials

Adequate vision, with or without correction, to:
● Monitor CNC router operation and material cuts in real time
● Inspect finished parts for quality, accuracy, and defects
● Read measurements, shop drawings, CAD outputs, and machine interfaces
Adequate hearing, with or without correction, to:
● Recognize verbal instructions and team communication
● Detect abnormal machine sounds, alarms, or operational issues
● Maintain awareness of surrounding equipment and safety signals in an active production environment
● Equipment & Vehicles
○ Hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery
○ Basic CNC equipment operation (as needed)
○ Material handling equipment (forklift/pallet jack if certified)
○ Company vehicles when required
● Safety & Additional Requirements
○ OSHA compliance and safe work practices required
○ Use of PPE includes safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots as needed.
