American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an ICU Float Pool position at an academic medical center in Chapel Hill, NC, requiring at least 1 year of nursing experience and the ability to float across multiple ICU specialties.

Float pool position covering all ICU units within a large academic medical center, including Surgical, Neuro, Medicine, Cardiac, Cardiovascular, and Burn Center ICUs

May also float to stepdown units as needed

Patient ratios are typically 1:1 and no greater than 1:3 in ICU settings; stepdown assignments carry a 1:3 ratio

Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)

Every other weekend (EOW) required

Every other holiday (EOH) required
-
No on-call required

Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact license with NC as the state of practice

Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)

Current ACLS certification

Current NIHSS certification

Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required

Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required; BSN or MSN preferred

Two professional references required for consideration

Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process across multiple ICU specialties as part of an inpatient float team
-
Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to evaluate and update patient care plans, including discharge planning for complex cases
-
Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required by the patient care plan
-
Applies cultural competence and patient/family-centered communication throughout the care process

Drug screen must be completed within 24 hours of accepting an offer; background check and drug screen processing may take at least 2 weeks and will affect start date if delayed
