This contract opportunity offers meaningful, consistent work throughout the academic year, including summer sessions, with the likelihood of an ongoing assignment into the next school year.
You will provide vital daily health care, assistance, and companionship for an 18-year-old male student attending a program in Lexington, MA. Your day starts at the student's home, supporting morning routines and facilitating transport to school, continuing with dedicated care throughout the school day, and accompanying the student home in the afternoon. The assignment is slated for up to 40 hours per week, averaging standard school and summer schedules.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts LPN or RN license required
- Experience or strong interest in school-based nursing, pediatrics, or working with individuals with significant physical disabilities
- Proficiency with pulmonary routines: administering nebulizers, managing chest PT (machine vest), cough assist therapy, and oral suctioning
- Comfortable with daily use of a ceiling lift, continuous repositioning, and supporting full body range of motion
- Familiarity with orthopedic supports, including TLSO torso braces and AFO ankle braces
- Dependable, compassionate, and organized, ready to provide both clinical care and supportive guidance in an educational setting
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized, 1:1 nursing care throughout school, transport, and program activities
- Support mobility, transfers, and personal care, adhering to a complex medical and mobility support plan
- Collaborate closely with school staff and clinical team, ensuring seamless communication with families and program professionals
- Maintain accurate records and uphold high clinical standards
