Part-Time Adjunct Instructor in Music — Strings (Violin, Viola, & Cello)
College of the Ozarks (C of O) is seeking applications for a part-time adjunct instructor of
strings to teach in-person applied lessons and string-related music courses in the C of O
music department. We are seeking an energetic musician with strong communication skills,
substantial teaching experience, and a broad knowledge of string instruments.
Primary Teaching Responsibilities
• Applied lessons on violin, viola, & cello (approximately 10–15 students each week)
- Instrumental Methods-Strings: a laboratory course designed to teach the pedagogy and
literature of the string family of instruments through practical application and illustration
- Instrumental Ensemble: performance of classical chamber music by an instrumental
ensemble of 3 to 8 players
Additional Responsibilities
• Oversee the maintenance of the music department’s string instruments and related
equipment
Minimum Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in music
- Applied string teaching experience (violin; minimum of five years)
- Ensemble performance experience
Preferred Qualifications
• A master’s or doctorate degree in music
- Applied string teaching experience at the college level (violin, viola, & cello)
- Classroom teaching experience at the college level
- Ensemble leadership experience
- Experience maintaining string instruments and related equipment
