RN – Stepdown | Travel Contract

Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown
Contract: 13 Weeks with Possible Extension
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
Weekly Pay: $2,450–$2,550
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse – Stepdown to provide high-quality patient care in a progressive, fast-paced hospital environment. The Stepdown RN cares for patients who require closer monitoring and a higher level of care than a general medical-surgical unit, but who may not require intensive care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) patients.
- Perform ongoing patient assessments and closely monitor vital signs and changes in patient condition.
- Monitor patients requiring a higher level of observation and cardiac/physiologic monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to physician orders and facility policies.
- Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patients' conditions and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, CNAs, LPNs, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, medications, and recovery.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning as needed.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Previous Stepdown, PCU, Progressive Care, Telemetry, or acute-care nursing experience preferred.
- Strong patient assessment and critical-thinking skills.
- Experience caring for patients requiring close monitoring.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Current BLS certification; additional certifications may be required based on facility requirements.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (7 PM–7 AM) and complete 36 guaranteed hours per week.
Pay: $2,450.00 - $2,550.00 per week
