A full-time research lab assistant position is available for a motivated recent graduate interested in basic/translational research training. The technician will be involved in projects to understand how cellular signaling, metabolic pathways, and immune system crosstalk in cancer cells work, and how this knowledge can improve cancer therapy. Approaches utilized in the lab, for which the technician will be provided training if necessary, will include but are not limited to cell culture, immunofluorescence, Western blot analysis, DNA cloning, gene knockout, protein purification, flow cytometry, and other molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry techniques. The position will also involve general support work in the laboratory. An important component of the position will be career development. The technician will be provided substantial mentorship and the opportunity to obtain authorship on manuscripts and present their work at national meetings, which the laboratory will subsidize. The technician will also be provided opportunities to be involved in clinical and translational research currently anticipated in the lab with clinician-scientists. The position would be ideal for a candidate interested in gap years of experience before applying to graduate or medical school.
