Hello Sugar is seeking an experienced Wax Specialist to join our Jersey City – Newport location. This role operates within a salon suite environment, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working independently while maintaining excellent service standards and delivering an outstanding client experience.
The ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, and self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a passion for helping clients feel confident and cared for. Success in this role requires following Hello Sugar’s franchise best practices, including consistently encouraging client rebooking and membership enrollment, which are key drivers of both personal income and studio growth.

Reports To: Sales & Operations Manager (Remote)
Location: Jersey City – Newport, NJ (located in the Phenix Salon Suites)
Compensation: $19 per hour + membership + commission + tips
A Day in the Life:
- Perform full body waxing and sugaring services for both men and women
- Conduct skin consultations and brow consultations prior to services
- Educate clients on proper skincare and post-wax care
- Build strong relationships and create a welcoming environment for clients
- Encourage rebooking and membership enrollment to help clients maintain consistent care
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation
- Manage your schedule effectively in an independent salon suite setting
- Follow Hello Sugar service protocols and brand standards
- Participate in ongoing education and development opportunities

- $19 hourly pay plus $10 commission on every membership sale. Moving to full commission as book builds. Successful waxers earn north of $50 per hour after books get filled.

Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure: Active New Jersey Esthetics or Cosmetology License
- Minimum of 3 years of professional skincare or waxing experience
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable, responsible, and professional
- Personable and able to quickly build rapport with clients
- Comfortable discussing and recommending memberships and rebooking services
- Experience with waxing and skincare services required (sugaring experience is a plus but not required)
