During this time, nearly 1 in 5 women experience moderate to serious psychological distress, yet only a fraction receive the specialized care they need, and mental health conditions remain a leading contributor to maternal morbidity and mortality.
is building a different model. We are a clinician-led, early-stage startup providing comprehensive, specialized virtual mental health care for women and their families across major hormonal and life transitions. Our work spans the full reproductive and hormonal lifespan, including:
- PMOS, PMDD
- Fertility challenges
- Pregnancy
- Postpartum
- Pregnancy and infant loss
- Parenting
- Perimenopause and Menopause
Mavida provides integrated, evidence-based care through 1:1, couples, and group therapy, alongside medication management and prescribing, as well as educational content and community support. We serve individuals and families navigating the intersection of biology and lived experience from trying to conceive to raising children and beyond.
We are hiring a Licensed Mental Health Therapist to help expand access to this level of specialized, whole-person care as we continue to grow.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate is dedicated, self-starting, and eager to learn. Through our expert-led training, they will have the opportunity to develop specialization in women’s mental health across hormonally influenced life transitions, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, parenting, PMDD, and perimenopause/menopause, with a focus on supporting patients through the complex intersection of biology, identity, and lived experience.

- Is adaptable and open to learning and growth. They should be willing to embrace new technologies and approaches to virtual mental health care.
- Actively engages in meetings, and contributes to the innovation and growth of the clinical team.
- Has a commitment to ongoing education and professional development, including staying up-to-date with the latest research and treatment modalities in perinatal mental health.
- Has high ethical standards and maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all relevant laws and regulations governing psychiatric nursing practice.
- Has strong communication skills, as all work will be conducted remotely; should be able to convey complex medical information in a clear and understandable manner (or willingness to grow in that area).
- Is comfortable with the technology and/or willing to learn new technologies to facilitate patient-centered virtual care
- Is looking for a contract role that will convert to a full-time role - a sort of “temp to perm,” if there is mutual fit
What is the role?
The Mental Health Therapist will:
- Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations and assessments of patients, including reviewing medical histories and formulating diagnoses.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Provide evidence-based, patient-centered clinical care to individuals that is in-line with the Mavida clinical model.
- Utilize patient-reported data in session with patients (measurement based care) and to inform treatment plans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and psychiatric nurse practitioners, to coordinate patient care and ensure holistic treatment.
- Monitor and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on patients' progress or changing clinical needs.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including electronic health records (EHR), in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing psychiatric nursing practice.
Requirements:
- Valid and active mental health practitioner license (LCSW, LMHC, LMFT or equivalent) in New York
- Minimum of two years of experience as a fully licensed mental health practitioner.
- Ability to work independently in a 100% virtual environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on patient-centered care.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare software.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding ethical standards.
Ideally, the candidate displays the following characteristics:
- Additional state licensures in CA, NJ, or TX
- Experience working in women’s health or perinatal mental health
- Experience utilizing acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and/or interpersonal family therapy (IPT)
- A flexible and curiosity-based approach to problem-solving
- Self-starter with a passion for women’s health
- Ability to work independently and problem solve while participating in a team environment
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills

Hours + rate negotiable.
Hourly rate range (based on experience/expertise): Starting at $80/hr

Professional equipment to facilitate virtual care (e.g., laptop) must be provided by contractor.

CEO and Co-Founder is Columbia-trained psychiatrist with a fellowship in reproductive psychiatry. Frustrated with the current state of perinatal mental health care, Sarah dreamt up MAVIDA Health as a way to leverage technology to provide increased access to better mental health care during the maternity journey. She has operated private practices in CA and NY states as well as consulting for several femtech companies. She frequently contributes as an expert to media articles on reproductive mental health and has garnered a large following on social media with her educational content.
