Summary
The General Maintenance Worker will aid the Maintenance Supervisor. The General Maintenance Worker will work on various building maintenance, general maintenance projects, construction, and alongside the maintenance staff. This position is being offered to experienced professionals with a background in building and general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the Maintenance Supervisor and maintenance staff with building maintenance. Work on maintenance and construction projects independently as needed or as a team
- Maintain mechanical equipment and tools including cleaning and mechanical repairs
- Upkeep of electrical, plumbing and heating cooling devises and fixtures
- Repairs and or replaces electrical outlets, switches, lights and ballasts.
- Repairs and Maintains drains, water lines, sinks and bathroom flushometers
- Repair or replacement of flooring, trim work, doors, locks, ceilings, windows and drywall
- Applies paint and finishes
- Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots and spread salt in those areas
- Use hand and power tools to include but not restricted to: measuring instruments and gauges, drills, grinders, nail guns, air tools, floor stripers and buffers, millimeter, torch, paint sprayers, shovels, chain saws, axes,
- Perform facility safety checks and corrections
- Perform other related duties as required

- Candidate must be at least 18 years old
- Candidate must have a clean driving record
- Ability to work in groups, individually, and alongside students and staff
Education and/or Experience
- At least three years experience in general maintenance trades
- Experience working in a professional environment
- Electrical, plumbing and construction experience
- Experience in working with children and young adults
- Microsoft Office Suite and computer knowledge is preferred
Other Skills and Abilities:
-Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work in groups, independently and alongside other students and staff
- Ability to stay organized and on task
- Must be willing to work with Education Alternatives students both under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and individually
- Must be able to complete the maintenance training and safety training
- Must be able to lift, carry, and manually transport heavy items up to 70 lbs
- Ability to read and work off of blue prints, drawings and schematics.
- Must be able to use and climb a 20’ ladder and scaffolding

· Must be able to use and climb a 20’ ladder and scaffolding

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
