Job Title: Outpatient Infusion Registered Nurse

Summary: Provides direct and indirect patient care in the outpatient care setting. Assists in all nursing areas as needed. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility, and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Can triage safely, rapidly, and accurately, every patient that enters the outpatient care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with physicians about changes in patient’s status, symptomatology, and results of diagnostic studies. Can respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Essential Functions:

Demonstrates ability to safely assist patients with transfer, lifting or rendering aid on the facility campus.

Head-to-toe assessments – knowledge of normal vs. abnormal findings and reporting of abnormal findings to the doctor.

Critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention for patients in the outpatient care setting.

Ability to interpret side effects, reactions, and emergent situations readily and respond to patients according to need.

Knowledge of hemodynamics.

Basic IV and central line skills

Maintains current knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition.

Maintains accurate and continued nursing documentation including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessment of changes.

Knowledge and the ability to assist physicians with procedures.

Participates in performance improvement activities.

Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and department meetings; shows responsibility for own professional practice.

Keep the budget in department within limits.

Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree Registered Nurse from an accredited nursing school. Current Kansas Registered Nurse License.
Minimum Experience: Preferably has been a practicing acute care nurse for minimum 1 year.
Certifications/Licensures: Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Kansas. Basic Life Support required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum, Neonatal Resuscitation, Pediatric Advance Life Support, STABLE current within two years of hire date.

Working conditions: Clinic nursing with exposure to a wide variety of unpleasant patient elements in the course of daily duties. Involves being on one’s feet a great deal, considerable walking to & from patient encounters, assisting patients in with medical needs as ordered by provider. May be required to lift 25-50 pounds and/or carry a similar amount of weight in certain situations; requires repetitive movements such as simple & firm grasping and fine manipulation of course of job duties.
