Internal Audit Supervisor AML

Overview:
Our client is seeking an Internal Audit Supervisor to support AML-focused internal audit and regulatory validation engagements within large, complex banking environments. This role is best suited for a hands-on audit professional with strong third line of defense experience and the ability to independently execute audit testing, issue validation, and remediation assessments across financial crimes programs. The individual will work closely with audit, compliance, and risk stakeholders to deliver high-quality audit documentation and support regulatory remediation efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute internal audit testing focused on AML and financial crimes programs.
- Perform validation and testing of regulatory issues and remediation activities, including assessment of control design and operating effectiveness.
- Conduct walkthroughs, testing, and documentation across AML governance, transaction monitoring, KYC/CDD, and related compliance processes.
- Prepare clear, well-supported, audit-ready workpapers and testing documentation.
- Summarize findings and testing results to support audit conclusions and reporting.
- Coordinate with Compliance, Internal Audit, and Risk stakeholders to obtain evidence and clarify responses.
- Provide guidance to junior team members on assigned audit workstreams as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10+ years of combined experience in AML and Internal Audit.
- Direct third line of defense (Internal Audit) experience is required.
- Experience supporting regulatory remediation, issue validation, and control effectiveness testing is required.
- Prior experience working at or auditing large, global banking institutions is required.
- Strong understanding of AML regulatory expectations and internal control frameworks.
- Hands-on experience performing audit testing, walkthroughs, and documentation.
- Ability to work independently within highly regulated financial services environments.
- Professional certifications such as CIA, CAMS, or CISA are preferred.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise audit documentation.
