About the Practice
We are a privately owned, physician-led medical practice with a strong commitment to patient care, operational excellence, and professionalism. As a one-physician practice with annual revenues under $5 million, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to oversee all financial and accounting operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented financial professional who enjoys working in a healthcare environment and being a key strategic partner to practice leadership.
Position Summary
The Controller will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the practice, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll oversight, cash management, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a small business environment where flexibility and initiative are valued.
This is a full-time, on-site position in Seattle, Washington. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting functions including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Monitor revenue cycle performance and financial trends
- Coordinate payroll processing and benefits administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and healthcare-related financial regulations
- Work with outside CPA firms, tax preparers, and auditors as needed
- Develop and maintain internal financial controls and office procedures
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to practice ownership
- Support operational decision-making through accurate reporting and financial insight
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA not required
- Minimum 5 years of accounting or financial management experience
- Prior experience in a medical practice or healthcare environment strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with payroll systems and accounting software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
