The League School (ages 5-21) and Joan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery (ages 3-5) are currently seeking teaching assistants to work in our school age and pre-school program. The teaching assistants will provide services to children with emotional challenges, autism, and/or developmental delays and help maintain a positive learning environment ensuring students’ success in school.
Responsibilities for teaching assistants include but are not limited to:
- Assists supervising teachers and provide special care needs to students
- Monitors students during assigned periods within a variety of school environments (classroom, restroom, toileting, hallway, mealtime, busing, field trips, kitchen, playground, etc.)
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the ongoing development of the student, classroom, or school environment.
- Provides direct instruction under teacher's guidance to support IEP goal attainment.
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
Education:
- Teaching assistant certification – Level 1 preferred
- Must have a high school diploma
Skills and/or Experience Required:
- Prior experience working with children ages 3-5 and/or ages 5 - 21, preferably special needs population or a similar combination of work and experience; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong attention to detail and highly organized.
